Spring is coming! 2012 will be our best year ever!
av Bo Nilsson - om Ingen kategori - November 17th, 2011|
We are still in November and I am not losing my mind. Personally it feels like days has become minutes and weeks are to short. Time is flying and all of a sudden it is time to cheer Santa Claus and fill our stomachs with all kinds of food and drinks. But let us slow down a bit and look into what happened during the latest conference, back in October when we gathered in Södertälje for a two day event. The planning was a little bit stressed since we decided to have the conference in the middle of October instead of in November as we used to. From the beginning we weren’t sure if the date would suit to everyone and we could see the problem of engaging speakers with quite short notice. To be sure that speakers can attend you need to plan it together with the speaker at least 5-6 months before the conference. The first day of our conference was in the true sense of our theme, Realization of Products. We could hear and see Lars Hansson from Scania talking about the usage of Digital Manufacturing Tools at Scania. Lars Hansson works as the Digital Factory Coordinator at Scanina and he gave us a quite detailed view in how Scania is taking advantages of the digital world with all its virtual tools. After Lars, we could welcome Daniel Rapo from Volvo Parts who gave us the details around Volvo Parts usage of 3D Via in their Multi CAD environment and how they are dealing with all different kinds of issues in the the widely spread world of Parts, both virtual and physical. Daniel talked about the future, creating a virtual workshop to be able to follow exactly how to maintain and repair trucks. Hans Eriksson from Dassault Systemes stepped up after Daniel and put on his Volvo Hat, substituting Kåre Folkesson from Volvo Trucks, who had to excuse himself at a late notice due to a top priority case at Volvo Truck. Hans Eriksson did a good job, representing Volvo Truck and told us about the Virtual Process Preparation and Lean Virutal Manufacturing. The idea of being able to build a complete truck in 80 minutes were described and it was quite fascinating to see the idea of having 20 modules that will be assembled in an assembly line, each module will take 4 minutes to assemble. Hans also showed us that the saying:”A man will never grow up, it is only the toys that are changing” , is quite right. He showed us the virtual build of a truck fully made of LEGO. This made it easier for the developers to understand how to build a truck by modules. Dassault Systemes had of course a part of our first day as well and we could join three very interesting breakout sessions, 3DVIA, Online CATIA PLM and 3D Based Process planning. Dassault and their business partners spent 2 hours to guide us through the news of Dassault. A very nice 15 minutes break out was the update from our “Brother in Arms”, German CATIA user group. Jens Fetzer gave us a short presentation about our german colleagues and we could directly see similarities between our two groups. Finally the first day ended and we could join a dinner of Roast beef and Potato Gratin, probably the best Potato Gratin ever, all comments to judge… The second day was filled with interesting workgroup sessions like the Live rendering session in Mech/Surface group, DELMIA V6 in DMU/PLM, and lots of othe interesting sessions. A tribute to our team leaders that manage every year to build interesting agendas. Next session we will be gathered upon is the Spring Conference in Gothenburg. We will open our gates on the 9th of May 2012 in Lindholmen Conference Centre for a one-day session, the day before Dassault Systemes PLM forum. Until then I really hope you will enjoy the ending of 2011 with joyful gatherings and generous kindness. I wish you all a happy ending of 2011! Bo Nilsson Chairman SCAF |

Named users i Catia V6!
